constantly ranked among the world’s
most preferred tourist destinations
Uganda is a safe and friendly land-locked country in East Africa. It has a well-developed tourist infrastructure with excellent national parks that showcase Uganda's wide variety of scenery, flora and fauna.
It is still authentically African, visited by only few tourists, lush green and home to the warmest welcoming people on the continent.
Winston Churchill referred to Uganda as the "Pearl of Africa" for its "magnificence, for variety of form and colour, for profusion of brilliant life".
While Uganda's political turmoil during the 1970's and 1980's caused it to lag behind neighboring Kenya and Tanzania as prime tourist destinations, this lovely country is staging a comeback with its excellent attractions.
Lonely Planet singles out Uganda as the place where Savannah meets the vast East African lakes and where snow-capped mountains bear down on sprawling jungles, but there is more to this Pearl of Africa.
Apart from being home to half the world’s surviving mountain gorillas, Uganda is also blessed with half of Africa’s bird species, Kibale forest which has the world's highest concentration of primates, waterfalls, hot springs, enormous variety in fantastic natural scenery, a rich mosaic of tribes and cultures and unique climate among others.
Because Uganda is a relatively small country (236,580 square kilometers) a two week safari is enough to see most highlights and still have enough time to relax.
